Latchkey is a before and after school service offered by St. Michael’s Lakeside School for students in Preschool through 5th grade during the school year.
The program includes time for homework and study, structured time as well as free play and other activities.
WHO MAY ATTEND LATCHKEY?
St. Michael’s Lakeside School students.
WHAT ARE THE HOURS?
Before school: 7:00 a.m. – 8:20 a.m.
After school: 2:50 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
During regular school days
ARE SNACKS PROVIDED?
No, but the children may bring snacks from home.
WHAT ARE THE FEES FOR THIS PROGRAM?
A non-refundable registration fee of $15.00 per child is required for using latchkey services. This fee will be kept in an activity fund for supplies. Billing is done monthly. Minimum monthly charge is one hour.
Rates: $3.00 per hour
HOW DO I USE LATCHKEY IF I AM NOT REGISTERED?
All drop-ins require a note from a parent or a phone call to the school.
HOW DO I PAY FOR LATCHKEY?
You are billed monthly.
LATCHKEY GUIDELINES
SNACKS
Should be eaten at the tables at the beginning of latchkey time. Eating should be finished during the first 15-20 minutes and before other activities begin. Each child must clean up after themselves. All food and beverages must be kept at the tables.
RESTROOM
All children must inform latchkey supervisors before leaving the room.
CHECK IN
Children must check in at the desk when entering the latchkey area.
LOG/SIGN OUT
Every child must be accounted for on the daily log and signed out (afternoons) by the parent/guardian. This includes children of teachers and staff.
CLEAN UP
Children must put away games or toys before moving on to another activity.
COATROOM/GAME CLOSET
Children are not allowed to linger or play in either of these areas. These rooms are to be used only for their proper purposes. These rooms should also be kept tidy.
UNCLAIMED ITEMS
All unclaimed items left in the coatroom or main area will be put in the lost and found at the end of each day.
PAPERS
All unclaimed papers will be thrown away at the end of each week.
ALL SCHOOL RULES shall be followed during latchkey. These include the following:
- Students are expected to follow directions given by all school staff.
- Walking is expected at all times unless involved in an acceptable physical education activity.
- Hands, feet and all objects are kept to yourself at all times.
- Yelling, name calling, teasing and backtalk toward anyone will not be tolerated.
- Do not throw anything except when participating in an approved physical education activity.
